About Jonathan: As a homeschooling father with nine children in the home (my oldest child is currently 18 years old), I began to earnestly look for ways to make the standard educational time more productive and worthwhile. My fear was that we were going to spend so much time perfecting educational details and still wind up getting to where we really didn’t want to be. Instead I wanted to be able to give my children an inspiration to develop early in their life a focus and a drive to cultivating something that they would eventually be very, very good at, and maybe even something that they could use to provide for themselves with a generous living.
As a result, I started experimenting with dovetailing our standard study times as a means to push my children into a deeper understanding around one chosen topic of their interest. Then I tried other ideas that were equally as successful. Because of these home-grown experimentations in education, I am discovering some great techniques and ideas along the way that I want to share with other homeschooling parents. I am doing all of this so I can guide my children into a life-long passion early enough so they can avoid wandering aimlessly in their early twenties through unfocused college degrees or low-paying market skills. Passion, focus, discipline, creativity, productivity: Why not get all those good things for our children before the age of 18? That is what I intend to do and I hope you will follow me on this exciting journey.

Great podcast, came home and shared the ideas with my husband on how to provide a meaningful and applicable education for our two boys… a lot of great things to think about. We have an early FI plan we are executing and exploring what we want our post 7-5 job life to look like. I really admire what Jonathan and his wife have done. I was also surprised to hear about Jonathan’s wife’s moisturizer business and as someone who has also struggled with chronic skin issues on my hands I’ve already placed an order and look forward to trying it. Thanks for doing this podcast Rocky, I’ve listened to 3 podcasts now and following this one have now subscribed!
Thanks Melanie! Stay tuned for episode 18, we are going to talk about the journey of teaching kids how to be money savvy from 2 – 22 and beyond.
